Irene is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya over to 15 years’ experience. She is a partner in Munyao, Muthama and Kashindi Advocates. She previously was a partner in Hamilton Harrison and Mathews. Irene specializes in Dispute Resolution and has an extensive sub-specialization in Employment and Labour Relations. She was in November 2023 been appointed as a Member of the Committee of Experts of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Application of Conventions and Recommendations. She is adept in ADR and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. Irene previously served as a board member of the Public Procurement and Administrative Review Board (PPARB) [Nov 2020 to Nov 2023]. She has been top ranked by leading global directories such as Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 as an established expert in dispute resolution and employment. She was the recipient of the Lawyer of the Year (2nd Runner’s up) by Nairobi Legal Awards in 2020. She was recently ranked among the Top 10 Women Lawyers in litigation (External Practitioners) in Kenya in 2024 by the Nairobi Legal Awards. She has been a resource person and has appeared as a speaker and trainer at Law Society of Kenya CPDs programmes, Judiciary Academy, client training programmes among other seminars and conferences.
